From the swimming pool, beyond where the water’s edge curls off to infinity, the view extends far down the valley to a small, ridge-top village on the horizon and below, a peek of a castello, hiding amongst woodland.
The large window in the salone of Podere Olivastra, adjacent to the grand, original fireplace, beautifully captures the landscape, framing the cascading village of Seggiano like a painting. In the foreground a neatly-tended vegetable garden grows tomatoes and courgettes which grow abundantly in this rich volcanic soil.
Spaciously laid-out and comfortably furnished, the Podere is very well-presented throughout. Recently restored, the property retains several original features and a great sense of place, with an original fireplace, thick, stone walls and oak-beamed ceilings. A well-equipped Italian kitchen immediately fires an inspiration to tease down one of the many cook books and run into the garden to gather fresh ingredients.
Upstairs, three comfortable, air-conditioned bedrooms and newly-fitted bathrooms line a hallway and have views over the surrounding gardens. A fourth bedroom in the tower, La Torretta, also features a copper bath-tub, perfectly positioned to prevent any attempt to read whilst soaking by capturing the idyllic Tuscan landscape from the window.
Also within the grounds are an orangery with table tennis, a Finnish sauna and gymnasium, and large dégustation room for tasting the locally-produced, award-winning olive oil (be prepared to find space in suitcases for taking bottles home).
