Kenya

Home of the safari and the Masai Mara, Kenya remains one of the most popular wildlife destinations in the world, offering the most diverse range of species and eco-system habitats within Africa.  Famous for its stunning landscape, savannah rich with magnificent wildlife,  pristine beaches and majestic snow-capped mountains, Kenya also has diverse cultures unchanged by the modern world along with an exotic history. This is also the place to witness nature's most awesome spectacle, the annual migration of wildebeest as they cross the Mara River. Beyond the Masai Mara, explore the game reserves and national parks of Laikipia, Samburu, Amboseli and Tsavo. There are endless opportunites for adventure, discovery, relaxation and wonder.

Above all, Kenya is a place for luxury safari holidays, whether from the comfort of a jeep, on foot or on horseback. With one tenth of its land designated to over 50 national parks and reserves, covering all habitats from dramatic desert to mountain forest, along with six marine parks in the Indian Ocean, Kenya is a nature lover's paradise and bound to enthrall.

Widely considered to be Africa's greatest wildlife reserve, the Masai Mara Game Reserve, in south western Kenya, offers prime viewing of the Big Five; elephant, lion, rhinoceros, buffalo and leopard. Other spectacular Kenya holiday regions are Amboseli, framed by beautiful Mount Kilimanjaro and home to large herds of elephant and the Samburu Reserve with its lovely doum palms dotted along sandy riverbeds and Samburu warriors herding cattle across the desolate plains. In contrast the Rift Valley Lakes, both freshwater and salt, are famed for their profusion of birdlife (including huge clouds of pink flamingos) and hippos and crocodiles.

The Kenyan coast, the traditional passage of the Arabian Spice Trade and lined with deserted ruins and Arab and Portuguese forts, offers a fabulous contrast to the safari circuit.  Here the wilderness meets the sea, and the ocean itself holds a world of spectacular coral reefs teeming with life and colour. The warm inviting waters of the Indian Ocean offer perfect tranquil therapy at the end of your holiday.
