This tropical paradise is the preserve of just a privileged few; and if you want to escape from modern technology and the office, this is certainly the place to do it in style; although it does offer wifi.

The ultimate private island hideaway, North Island is the Seychelles' most luxurious resort. A tropical paradise of pristine palm fringed beaches, it offers tropical indulgence by the bucket load. There are four exquisite beaches - some of the world's best - on the eastern and western side of the island. Recline on the beach, zone out at the spa or explore land and sea in this natural playground: shaded forest trails lead the way for walking and cycling, while snorkelling or diving in the warm waters reveals a myriad of sea life. The island's natural beauty extends to its indigenous fauna and conservation projects ensure the creatures who make the Seychelles home flourish. Species such as the Seychelles blue pigeons, wedge tailed shearwaters and white tailed tropicbirds sail through the sky and hawksbill and green turtles can be spotted nesting on the beaches.

ACCOMMODATION

The 11 villas at 'North', as those in the know call it, benefit from the luxury of space both inside and out. They are dotted around the island to provide maximum privacy. Inside, spacious and sumptuous living areas afford magnificent views of the ocean. The style is Robinson Crusoe chic, with driftwood bed frames, bamboo showers, and shell doors, yet you will find home comforts whenever you need them. Large bathrooms have sunken baths suitable for two, and there is a second bedroom that could be an office or private spa treatment room if you are travelling as a twosome. Outside there is a lovely private plunge pool with ocean views, shaded by lush trees.

RESORT FOCUS

Total perfection, with everything tailored to your personal preference.

FOR WEDDINGS & HONEYMOONS

Honeymoon Beach, as it is known, is the most idyllic spot for weddings and honeymoon picnics. The small sheltered bay is accessed by a rocky coastal path, often following a short walk on Bernica Hill. There you can take your vows in complete privacy or with your loved ones. If you are celebrating your honeymoon, the North Island team will be delighted to set up a blanket and basket of fresh bread, cheeses, charcuterie and accompaniments for what will surely be one of the most romantic experiences you will ever have.

FAMILIES

Children are welcome at North Island. Each villa has a second bedroom, and the staff will be happy to babysit and entertain youngsters if you need some respite - including during dinner. Everything is organised specifically for you and your family, so any trip - be it on land or sea - can be tailored to suit younger members of the family, with snorkelling and diving available to children over eight and 10 respectively. The abundance of wildlife - turtles, birds and dolphins to name a few - will also please younger visitors, especially as the environmental team is always happy to spend time unravelling the complexities of the island's wildlife.

Calendar_Indian-Ocean_Seychelles.jpgWHEN SHOULD I GO?

  • The Seychelles is warm all year and lies mainly outside the cyclone belt making it a good year-round choice.
  • Between June and September the weather is cooler and drier. It can also be windy - making these the best months for sailing
  • The months of April, May and October have pleasant, calm weather with generally excellent visibility for snorkelling and diving
  • The warm months between November and March tend to receive more rain and are more humid

Insider Viewpoint

Freedom and privacy are paramount at North Island and if you dream of escaping everything - and everyone - you won't be disappointed. You could choose to hide away and luxuriate in your villa all week, dining in your garden or on a private beach and never noticing another soul; but there is also the possibility of joining others on the beach for a sun downer or at the central hub if you're feeling more sociable. The main thing you will share with your fellow guests is a wonderful feeling of being both marooned and spoilt. Activities are organised entirely around you, arrival is by helicopter only, and eating whatever you feel like at any time of day must surely be the ultimate privilege when someone else is doing the cooking.

Wild, unspoilt, exclusive tropical island.
