Your adventure starts today following an early breakfast and a private vehicle to the Siwa Oasis, situated in the western desert of Egypt.  En route your journey includes a visit to the poignant WWII battle site at El Alamein, a coastal city, where General Montgomery stopped the advance of Rommel's troops. The museum gives a moving and balanced account of the battle. Day 3 - Siwa
Another exciting day lies ahead.  Explore the picturesque remains of the 13th Century mud brick fortress of Shali with its labyrinth of multi-storey buildings dominated by spectacular organic shapes.  The fortress originally housed thousands of people and for centuries, few outsiders were admitted inside. Now only a few buildings around the edges are occupied or used for storage, including the Old Mosque with its chimney-shaped minaret.  Your journey continues to the Gebel Mawta `Mountain of the Dead', a honeycombed hillside full of rock tombs which were unknown to 19th century explorers.   After an enjoyable lunch visit the romantic remains of the settlement of Aghurmi where Alexander the Great consulted the famous Oracle of Amun, with its spectacular views of the Oasis. Today would not be complete without a visit to the wonderful Cleopatra's Bath, an ancient natural spring.

A delicious picnic lunch will be served en route. On arrival at Bahariya, check-in at the Sahara Sands Hotel, a luxurious desert lodge with stunning architecture.  Enjoy your time relaxing and taking in the surrounding area.
