Day 1 - Delhi
When you arrive into Delhi, you'll be met at the airport and driven to your overnight hotel.

Overnight: The Leela Gurgaon

Day 2 - Delhi - Guwahati
This morning, it's back to the airport for the short flight to Guwahati. You'll visit the Kama-khya Temple, dedicated to the goddess of desire, en route to board MV Mahabaahu, your home for the next seven nights. The boat will begin its journey, passing Peacock Island - famous for the endangered Golden Langur - as you enjoy an evening welcome dinner and talk.

Built by Calcutta shipbuilders in 2012, the MV Mahabaahu is a 55 metre, 46-berth vessel offering comfortable and spacious accommodation. In addition to a sun-deck perfect for morning yoga and a restaurant overlooking the river, there is a pool, lounge bar, and fitness area; while the lower 'spa' deck features a Jacuzzi, sauna and treatment room. You can choose between superior cabins or suites, with or without balconies, and the crew numbers 35, meaning you'll always be spoilt for attention.

Day 3 - Silghat
You'll wake up to beautiful views of the tranquil, unspoilt Brahmaputra. As you pass small villages and settlements, you might spot dolphins and birds of prey, and your guide will introduce you to the river and the life which it supports.

Day 4 - Silghat
Today you'll pass the city of Tezpur before arriving in Silghat, where there's the chance to enjoy a journey through stunning countryside and a visit to an Assam tea estate and factory.

Day 5 - Kaziranga National Park
One of India's remotest national parks, Kaziranga receives fewer visitors than its southern neighbours and reveals a gloriously unspoiled landscape. Your first safari of the day will be by elephant back, in search of the elusive Greater One-Horned Indian Rhinoceros and tiger, before a jeep safari around Bagori and a revealing visit to Biswanath Ghat village, where the village women weave colourful traditional handicrafts by the riverside.

Day 6 - River Safari
Relax on board and take in the stunning scenery that passes by on this leg of the journey. Later, a boat safari near the point where the River Dhansiri and River Brahmaputra meet provides the opportunity to see otters, pied kingfishers, eagles, vultures and water buffalos. Today's dinner will be a real highlight - enjoyed al fresco on a deserted island.

Day 7 - Towards Majuli
The Mishing people inhabit the world's largest river island, and they welcome you today to experience their way of life. You'll see women weaving colourful clothes on hand-looms, and learn about the livelihoods of the people. The island itself is a pleasant place to explore and stretch your legs.

Day 8 - Majuli, Neamati Ghat and Sibsagar
You'll arrive into the ancient town of Majuli this morning, to explore the city's impressive satras - cultural institutions dating back to the 15th Century. Then it's on to Sibsagar, where the Tai-speaking Ahoms who came from Yunnan and China in the 13th Century made their homes, before a visit to a working tea estate in the afternoon.

Day 9 - Jorhat
After breakfast, it's time to bid Mahabaahu farewell and head back to Jorhat airport for your flight to Delhi. From Delhi, make your journey home, or continue your adventure in India.
