FURTHER JOURNEYS IN CAMBODIA  brown-arrow-right.png

Day 1 - Phnom Penh
Arrive in Phnom Penh and enjoy an afternoon's sightseeing to take in the former Royal Palace and time to browse the treasures of the National Museum.

Your hotel is a haven of peace in what is becoming one of Southeast Asia's fastest growing cities. A pool with adjacent salas offer respite from the heat in a glorious garden and a spa offers restorative treatments.

Overnight: iRoha Garden

Day 2 - Phnom Penh
Though deeply upsetting the terrifying reign of the Khmer Rouge should not be ignored. The former high school of Tuol Sleng and the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek lay bare the reality of Cambodia's recent past, allowing a far greater appreciation of this fascinating country.

Fly in the early evening to Siem Reap and transfer to your hotel.

With a contemporary take on traditional Khmer architecture, Phum Baitang offers 45 elegant villas stilted in the style of the rural houses of Cambodia using local wood, tile and thatch. A Spa Temple inspired by the temples of Angkor accommodates seven treatment rooms,  with a sauna, steam room and relaxation area. Well-being is further enhanced with a Yoga Pavilion and a 50m outdoor pool. Two restaurants provide regional and international cuisine, with rice coming directly from the adjacent rice paddies. A Pool Bar provides drinks and light meals next to the pool, whilst sophisticated cocktails are served in the Cigar & Cocktail lounge accommodated in a 100 year old farmhouse.

Overnight: Phum Baitang

Day 3 - Siem Reap
Your time will be carefully planned to avoid the crowds where possible whilst capturing key images in their best light. Experience Ta Prohm at dawn, climbing through the tree roots which are reclaiming a beautiful temple, made famous by the film Tomb Raider. Venture on to see the most elaborate carvings found at Banteay Srei. So fine is the detail here that it is assumed to have been made by women rather than men! Variety is added with a short trek to the fascinating carved riverbank of Kbal Spean and a cruise through medieval floating villages on the Tonle Sap Lake.

Overnight: Phum Baitang

Day 4 - Siem Reap
Lasting memories will include a dramatic sunrise over the majestic Angkor Wat and the 216 enigmatic faces of the Bayon, which overlook the immense walled city of Angkor Thom.  Spend the afternoon at leisure beside the pool or explore the local markets independently before enjoying an evening performance of Phare Circus - a magical spectacle in which the performers are street kids who have been given a second chance and trained to be incredible acrobats.

Overnight: Phum Baitang

Day 5 - Siem Reap - Sihanoukville - Kep
Fly to Sihanoukville and drive 2 hours to the charming coastal village of Kep in the Kampot province.  The area is famous for crabs and a visit to the crab market shouldn't be missed.  Check into your hotel for the next few days of leisure.

Your hotel is set back from the coast on a hillside with views down to the Gulf of Thailand and Phu Quoc Island on one side and up to the Bokor Mountains on the other. This is an exceptionally relaxing retreat with a lovely infinity pool and gardens as well as a peaceful spa.

Overnight: Le Veranda

Days 6 - 7 - Kep
Two full days at leisure to relax by the pool, enjoy watersports at the famous Kep Sailing Club down the road, walk in the surrounding national park or venture further into the countryside to explore the pepper farms and remote temples.  The crab market is a very short walk down the hill and the local beaches are close at hand.

Overnight: Le Veranda

Day 8 - Depart
Drive 2½ hours back to Phnom Penh to catch your flight home.
