Sailing the Mergui Archipelago

The waters of Myanmar have only been open to foreigners since the late 1990s and the Mergui Archipelago is a stunning tropical archipelago, inhabited by the semi-nomadic Moken people and an array of charismatic animals and birds. The 800 islands of Mergui are cloaked in ancient mangrove and lapped by seas that receive not much more than a couple of dozen visitors a year. A voyage here is characterised by discovering empty beaches and having them all to yourself, kayaking through mangrove forests that resound with the calls of birds and macaques, swimming and snorkelling over coral reefs and cruising to the sounds of the sea, the breeze and the birds.

There are a variety of boats to choose from. Depending on your choice, you can book a cabin and follow a pre-determined route or explore places of interest at your own pace by chartering a yacht privately.
