Day 1 - Arrive Bangkok
Relax on the banks of the Chao Phraya staying at the stunning Bill Bensley designed boutique hotel, The Siam.

Overnight: The Siam

Day 2  -  Bangkok 
Exploring the beauty and chaos of Bangkok. Lose yourself in the haunting chants of worshiping monks at Wat Pho and marvel at the Grand Palace. Browse traditional floating markets and another which occupies train tracks, springing to life between passing trains!

Day 3 - Samut Songkhram Province
Glimpse the Thai countryside just an hour south of Bangkok, starting with a short regional train ride to a country market on the railway tracks.  Witness the speed and dexterity of the stall holders as they quickly pack away their wares before the train arrives, bringing sales to a brief halt. Take a long-tail boat ride through the canals to the Damnoen Saduak market bustling with boats and vendors selling tropical fruits and other delights.

Day 4 - Dong Daeng
Fly to Pakse and transfer to the island of Dong Daeng. The contrast to Bangkok could not be greater as the sun sets over the Mekong and you relax in to a leisurely pace of life.

Day 5 - Dong Daeng
Explore the 5th Century Hindu temple of Wat Phou and the area known as '4000 islands'. This is the only section of the Mekong that was impassable to French colonists, thanks to dramatic waterfalls, so a railway was built to facilitate trade with Cambodia. This is also the best place to spot the rare Irrawaddy dolphin.

Day 6 - Vientiane 
Explore the waterfalls and coffee plantations of the Bolovean Plateau before meeting your flight to Vientiane. Settle in to a colonial palace from the 1930s. The best restaurants in the capital are within walking distance.

Days 7 - Vientiane
Highlights of your city tour include magnificent French architecture, the holiest site in Laos at That Luang and the excellent COPE centre so that you can appreciate events in Laos during and since the Vietnam War.

Day 8 - Luang Prabang
Fly to Luang Prabang where you can begin exploring or enjoy sweeping views of the town from a stunning infinity pool.

Overnight: La Residence Phou Vao.

Days 9 - 10 - Luang Prabang
The UNESCO town of Luang Prabang is famous for the early morning ritual of 'alms giving', where you can witness processions of monks collecting daily offerings from local residents. Architectural highlights include the former Royal Palace and beautiful temples such as Wat Xieng Thong, with an E-bike tour giving you the freedom to roam. Markets are vibrant social events and fascinating insights in to local lives. Mount Phousi provides panoramic views of the town whilst the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre explains the social landscape.

Overnight: La Residence Phou Vao.

Day 11 - Pakbeng
This morning you skim through the mist on your journey north along the Mekong. Stops include the Pak Ou Caves and hill tribe villages. Sunset is enjoyed from the village of Pakbeng, where you will sleep tonight.

Overnight: Luang Say Lodge.

Day 12 - The Golden Triangle
A second full day on the majestic river takes you through dramatic mountain scenery before crossing the Thai border in the late afternoon. Your accommodation in the Golden Triangle looks back over Laos and Myanmar.

Day 13 - Elephant Riding 
Spend a memorable day training as a mahout, learning to care for and command your own elephant, riding through crashing streams and thick jungle.

Overnight: Anantara Golden Triangle.

Day 14 - Chiang Mai
Board a long-tail boat for a few hours cruise upstream to riverside hill tribe villages.  Enjoy a local lunch in Thaton before continuing to Chiang Dao to explore the impressive cave complex.  From here, drive to Chiang Mai in time to take an evening stroll through the night bazaar.

Overnight: Anantara Chiang Mai.

Days 15 - 16 - Chiang Mai - Sri Lanna National Park 
Chiang Mai is a thriving city whose delights include the iconic temple of Doi Suthep and one of the best dishes in Thailand; Khao Soi. Escape the city with cycling and kayaking through the tranquil Sri Lanna National Park.

Overnight: Anantara Chiang Mai.

Day 17 - Koh Yao Noi 
Fly to Phuket and zip across the Phang Nga Bay to the rugged island of Koh Yao Noi.

Overnight: Six Senses Koh Yao Noi.

Days 18 - 20 - Koh Yao Noi 
Explore local communities and a coconut plantation, visit a fish farm by long-tail boat, snorkel, fish or simply unwind in your pool villa. The resort has a superb spa and commands better views than any other beach resort in Southeast Asia.

Overnight: Six Senses Koh Yao Noi.

Day 21 - Depart 
Return to Phuket by speedboat to fly home, via Bangkok.
