Mystical Halong Bay Aboard The Au Co

Launched in 2012, The Au Co is an excellent new vessel consisting of just 32 comfortable cabins with en-suite bathrooms and panoramic balconies.  Facilities include indoor and outdoor spa and a Jacuzzi on deck, as well as a restaurant using the 5 elements of wood, fire, earth, metal and water. With its larger engines and the fact that it offers a minimum of 2 night cruises The Au Co can quickly escape the madding crowd and take you deep into the heart of Halong Bay with its iconic limestone karsts.  Bai Tu Long Bay, Lan Ha Bay and Cat Ba Island are not accessible for boats doing shorter cruises and The Au Co finds uncrowded pristine beaches and hidden coves that passengers can explore at their own pace and feel the majesty of the three bays in the Gulf of Tonkin.

FURTHER JOURNEYS IN VIETNAM  brown-arrow-right.png

Day 1 -  Halong Bay
Depart from Hanoi on board the 14-seater Cessna for a 30 minute flight offering aerial views of the countryside and a thrilling water landing in Halong Bay.  Board The Au Co at the cruise centre in Halong City where you will immediately be able to enjoy a delicious lunch based on cuisine that explores the five elements, as you gently cruise into Halong Bay.  You will have the opportunity to visit the wheel house and the engine room before a guided visit to the Sung Sot cave.  This afternoon you can take part in a cookery demonstration before happy hour and dinner.  The boat anchors overnight and after dinner you might like to try your hand at squid fishing.

There are five cabin categories on board (Deluxe, Grand Deluxe, Executive, Long Quan Suites and Au Co Suites). We recommend the Long Quan Suites. Commanding a great position and views from the bow of the ship, the Long Quan Suites are a very generous 36sqm. With their spacious private terraces on the upper deck they provide the utmost in luxury and privacy.

There is a good restaurant on board where the 5 elements of wood, fire, earth, metal and water are explored and there is also a spa room, an open-air spa area and a Jacuzzi on deck. Lunch and dinner included.

Start the day with Tai Chi on the sundeck before breakfast.  Head off in small rowing boats and visit Vung Vieng fishing village before re-joining The Au Co for a delicious lunch while you cruise towards Lan Ha Bay and Cat Ba Island to walk through the national park and visiting an organic farm.  Back on board enjoy happy hour and a sumptuous seafood barbecue while the ship anchors overnight at Drum Cave. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Day 3 - Sung Sot Cave
Enjoy another early session of Tai Chi if you wish before a guided tour of Sung Sot cave, the most beautiful cave with a photo opportunity that makes it worth climbing the 715 steps into the cave itself.  Brunch will be served back on board as you cruise back into the port of Halong Bay and end your journey.
