The Mekong from Vietnam to Cambodia

The Aqua Mekong is the latest river expedition ship in Southeast Asia.   With a 1:1 ratio of crew to passengers with 20 suites over two decks, cruises are for 3, 4 and 7 nights upriver and downriver between My Tho (Vietnam), Phnom Penh and Siem Reap (Cambodia).  Every suite is air-conditioned with an en-suite bathroom and eight suites have a balcony with exterior day bed. The suites are spacious and include flat screen TV, iPod docking station, dual sink bathroom with walk-in shower and rainforest showerhead.  Four sets of two inter-connecting suites are suitable for families and for the ultimate in luxury, passengers can book inter-connecting suites and use one for living and one for sleeping.  Bicycles are provided for exploring on shore and on board there are indoor and outdoor bars and dining rooms, observation deck with sunbeds, exercise room overlooking the river, infirmary with medical staff, plunge pool and private cabanas and two spa treatment rooms with single and double massage beds.

Pre-Cruise Itinerary

Vietnam is an incredible country, filled with history and beauty.  We recommend you start by exploring the highlights of Hanoi before enjoying a one or two night cruise among the limestone karsts of Ha Long Bay and then fly down to Ho Chi Minh City. Here you can explore the more inaccessible parts of the city riding pillion on a vespa  with your experienced driver guide.  By the time you embark on Aqua Mekong, you will have a real flavour of this colourful country.

Post-Cruise Itinerary

We highly recommend that you spend more time in Cambodia after the cruise as there is so much to see and do.  We recommend you spend another full day in Phnom Penh to give you time to visit Tuol Sleng and The Killing Fields to learn about the horrors of the Khmer Rouge era. You should then fly up to Siem Reap for at least three nights to spend time walking around the awe-inspiring temples of Angkor, quad biking to more remote temples for sundowner cocktails and for adrenalin junkies, zip-lining on the "Flight of the Gibbon" across the jungle's canopy above the temples.

Red Savannah would be delighted to put a tailor-made itinerary together for you to suit the length of time you can spare and to ensure you get the most out of Southeast Asia. Contact Melissa Matthews on +44(0)1242 787804.
