Costa Navarino

Peloponnese, The Westin Resort Costa Navarino  £££ / The Romanos, a Luxury Collection Resort ££££

The Westin Resort Costa Navarino and The Romanos Resort are two large but extremely impressive properties sharing a stunning spot on the dunes north of Pylos, in the south of Greece's Peloponnese. The stretch of beach is long and beautifully sandy, whilst back from the dunes, rises a series of well-designed buildings housing extremely comfortable rooms and suites (as well as the odd villa), numerous pools set in large gardens and a multitude of restaurants, shops, spas, fitness centres and sporting hubs to suit absolutely everyone. The 2 resorts merge at the 'Agora' like a small village of shops, tavernas and restaurants. The Westin Resort Costa Navarino is a bit more functional than its slightly more upscale neighbour, The Romanos Resort, but both are very comfortable and they share the really excellent facilities, on which the owners have lavished money, to include the award-winning, 4000m2 Anazoe Spa, two truly beautiful 18-hole signature golf courses  - The Dunes Course and The Bay Course - tennis courts, a watersports centre, a PADI diving centre, a world-class cycling centre also offering guided walks, a racquet sports academy, and some of the most impressive, purpose built children's facilities anywhere. These include The Sand Castle, where even sleepovers can be arranged, and where there is a water park, a full-blown American diner, a bowling alley, a gymnasium and a cinema, and the crèche known as Cocoon, which has its own pool, sleeping hut, and team of ultra-friendly staff.

Nota Bene:

Parents with very small children will find the resort quite spread out and some facilities a bit distant. Best to call a club car, in this case.

The Westin Resort Costa Navarino is an excellent family resort with highly practical rooms. The Romanos Resort is a more exclusive and luxurious property, but in fact all the facilities, except The Romanos pool, are shared, so talk to us about which is likely to be the most suitable hotel for you.

New for 2016: reservations at The Westin Resort Costa Navarino are on a Half Board basis only from 1st June to 30th September. Guests can choose to dine in any of 9 restaurants in the resort.

Insider Viewpoint

These two resorts are large and unashamedly built for fun. A quiet little getaway, this is not, but it is hard to think of a place in the Mediterranean where there is so much on offer for everyone. No expense has been spared on providing the very best facilities, and the most qualified and passionate staff to run them. Large resorts often lack character, but the ethos of Costa Navarino is to introduce Messinia to its guests and this it does cleverly, with some highly imaginative activities in the local area and a very high proportion of the staff recruited from the immediate vicinity.
