Oman
Positioned on the southeast corner of the Arabian Peninsula,
bordering the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea, the Sultanate of
Oman is often described as an island between two seas - of water to
the east and of sand to the west. Indeed, the seas have helped
define Oman's history; shipping copper to Mesopotamia and
frankincense to China and whilst the ports of Muscat and Salalah
continue their long tradition of maritime trading, Oman's seas are
nowadays also renowned for their sparkling turquoise waters rich in
underwater flora and marine life. Lining these inviting waters is a
1000-mile coastline dotted with pristine, white sandy beaches and
secluded, intimate coves.
