The British Virgin Islands

Its five o'clock and between stretches of deep blue sky, the soft underbelly of the billowing cumulonimbi are fully ablaze with every colour of orange and red. Eyes gaze over the Caribbean waters with avid fascination, yearning to know who inhabits each of the perfectly formed verdant islands that lie low down beneath the propellers. The pilot announces arrival in Beef Island in ten minutes. Hearts leap with anticipation of the forthcoming days of white crescent beaches, perfectly blue waters, wonderful watersports and rum kissed balmy evenings under the stars.

Make no mistake, the British Virgin Islands, stumbled upon some five centuries ago by the likes of Drake and Columbus, remain in their age of discovery, an archipelago of sixty islands, forty three of which remain uninhabited, all heartbreakingly beautiful with sensational coral reefs, islets and cays and waters where some of the best watersports in the Caribbean take place. Amidst all this splendour are some of the best hotels and villas to be found anywhere in the West Indies.
