Located in the Alpes de Hautes Provence, on the border of the Vaucluse, this private villa is equidistant between Avignon and Aix en Provence, two fascinating cities rich in magnificent art and architecture. During the summer months, thousands gather for the renowned performing arts festival in Avignon and the music festival in Aix which attracts the best musicians from around the world. As you climb over a trail of bright red ochre, past windswept pine trees, the view suddenly opens onto a stunning panorama of rolling countryside and endless mountain peaks, the foothills of the Alps in the distance. Villa Sage, nestled on the hillside, is in a perfect position to take in the views. Surrounded by lush greenery and organic farmland, enjoy local excursions to essential oil ateliers where artisans will introduce you to the products and their reported healing properties. Alternatively, you could go for long walks in the dramatic Gorges d'Oppedette or visit nearby Viens to discover one of the oldest villages in France.
Villa Sage, an 18th century farmhouse, has been carefully renovated using high quality authentic materials such as Vernin tiles, terracotta floors and locally sourced antique furniture. There is a prestigious dining area with a magnificent open fireplace. Ancient wooden doors have been preserved and stand out against the beautiful stonework. The outdoor areas have been designed to enjoy the spectacular views from every angle. Several terraces are equipped with high quality parasols and sumptuous lounge chairs. All bedrooms are en suite and benefit from lovely views over the Provençal gardens and rolling hillsides beyond.
The villa forms part of an estate that includes two small hamlets, Villa Thyme and Colline Fleurie as well as another charming villa, La Maison Oppedette. All have been lovingly restored and feature in our portfolio. The property owners have also spent years nurturing the estate's organic vines and the resulting vineyard boasts 11 organic wines and an impressive architecturally designed winery and restaurant. Guests at Villa Sage can take a tour of the vineyard, dine at La Terrace restaurant or order cooked meals from the restaurant to be enjoyed in the villa.
