The Dordogne is the artery that has nourished the region for centuries. Upon its banks towns and villages have sprung up, some clinging dramatically to the Cliffside. As well as visiting the villages and markets, there are a host of activities to enjoy in the area. There are cave networks with wall paintings tens of thousands of years old, incredible sculpted gardens, canoeing down the river, local delicacies to make the mouth water and much more. There is even the possibility of being punted along a beautiful underground river in a vessel reminiscent of the Venetian gondola. Only a ten minute drive from Bergerac and the Dordogne River is the Domaine de Rouillac. The Domaine is surrounded by fields with grazing horses from the stud farm. The Domaine offers the chance to discover as much or as little as you would like to of the region from the comfort of a recently renovated historic building, complete with 16x5m heated swimming pool and beach volleyball court. Within a 15 minute drive of the Domaine there are two Michelin-starred restaurants.
