Eremito was created in 2013 by its charismatic owner, Marcello Murzulli, who, in another lifetime, was a fashion designer and then creator of the highly successful Hotelito Desconocido (Little Unknown Hotel) in Mexico. Now he has come home to Italy and Umbria where he wanted to create a spiritual hideaway, a ‘box’ as he calls it, in which people can be who they want and do as they feel.
ACTIVITIES
There is no agenda here and guests are free to sleep, sunbathe, read or practise yoga. Take a walk through the fields to the nearest village or around the reserve simply to enjoy nature. Learn some Italian classics in the kitchen with Enzo and make new friends as you share stories around the outdoor fire of an evening. Please note that there is no yoga teacher on-site but that an indoor studio and mats are available for self-practise.
FACILITIES
The small ‘spa' comprises a yoga studio, steam room and atmospheric stone hot tub. At the top of the building is a small chapel opening onto a roof terrace and downstairs guests can lounge in the comfy sitting room, strewn with enormous cushions.
SLEEPING
Each of the 20 rooms is a perfect little monastic cell, simply yet comfortably furnished with a large single bed, window seat and wardrobe space as well as en-suite shower room. Shutters allow for undisturbed lie-ins or can be left open to let in the cool night breeze and silence is requested on the "celluzzi" floor. You will sleep well here.
EATING
Breakfast is a simple buffet affair while lunch takes place at a long, wooden table, under a pergola, overlooking the rolling valley. Dinner is served inside in total silence (the only really strict rule of the house) with wine included. All meals are a friendly, communal affair and the food is locally-sourced, freshly cooked and vegetarian.
