WEATHER IN ITALY
Given its long boot-like shape and varied geography, the weather in Italy ranges considerably from north to south. In the alpine north of the country, cold, harsh winters with heavy snowfall are typical between December and March, while summers are sunny and fresh. In central Italy, beyond the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, the climate is milder and wetter with a less pronounced difference between summer and winter temperatures. While Italy is a western European nation presenting little overt health risk, it is always advisable to visit your doctor or local health clinic ahead of your trip. Depending on where you are travelling to in Italy, you may be advised to take certain precautions, not least against sunburn or insect bites. It can be very hot in the summer, particularly in the southern regions and in Sicily and you are advised to carry water with you. Italy uses the same 220v electricity supply as maintained throughout most of continental Europe. Electrical sockets take standard European two-pin plugs. Adaptors for these are found at most airports.
