When you arrive in Boston make your way downtown to your hotel for the next two nights, XV Beacon. The hotel has a great central location which makes it easy to explore the sights, as well as good facilities if you just want to relax after your journey.
Overnight: Fifteen Beacon
One of America's great cities, Boston has a wealth of things to see and do. Discover the history of the American Revolution on a walk along the Freedom Trail and make your way across local favourite Boston Common; explore the many museums and galleries; visit vibrant, cultural Cambridge; or take a Boston Duck tour on the land and water. We can also arrange a visit to Harvard with a historian or a baseball game at Fenway Park. Overnight: Fifteen Beacon Days 3 - 4 - Cape Cod, Massachusetts After a leisurely breakfast, collect your rental car and drive in your own time to Cape Cod, the much-loved vacation spot on Massachusetts southeast coast. The journey will take around one-two hours. When you arrive, check-in to your charming boutique hotel just a short stroll from the beach. Cape Cod is a place of simple pleasures: lazy days by the sea; strolling around quaint harbour towns such as Provincetown; whale watching, cycling or sailing around the coast, and enjoying delicious seafood and local craft beer.
Overnight: Platinum Pebble
Catch the ferry to Nantucket (around one hour), a small island off the Massachusetts coast, for a three night stay on the waterfront. Your lodge is located in Nantucket Harbour, close to the cobbled streets, restaurants and shops of this sleepy former whaling seaport. We recommend hiring a bike to cycle around the island at your own pace. As it is known for its sunsets, Nantucket is also a lovely place for an evening boat ride before dinner at one of the excellent restaurants in town - where fresh seafood is always a feature. Overnight: The Cottages & Lofts Days 8 - 9 - Woodstock, Vermont After taking the ferry back to Nantucket, pick up your rental car for the three-four hour drive across the border into Vermont. When you arrive in Woodstock, check-in to the delightful family-run inn 506 On The River, located on the banks of the Ottaquechee River. The beautiful scenery surrounding Woodstock means driving and walking is very enjoyable; and there are numerous dairies and farms to visit. We recommend Sugarbush cheese and Maple Farm, where you will be given lots of samples to taste. Woodstock itself is a great place to absorb everyday small-town American life. Visit Gillingham's General Store in town, which has been family owned for 125 years and sells almost everything and anything!
Overnight: 506 On The River
Around an hour and a half's drive north will bring you to the small town of Warren in rural Washington County. The area is known for its beautiful countryside, and your hotel for the next three nights is perfectly placed for you to enjoy it, with sweeping views of the Mad River Valley. A Relais & Chateau hotel providing luxurious accommodation, fine dining and excellent service, The Pitcher Inn is a wonderful place to end your journey. Historic Warren is a charming place to stroll around, and the Mad River Valley offers excellent kayaking, hiking, cycling and fly-fishing. If you like antiques, there are lots of shops to visit locally, as well as sampling the delicious local maple syrup. You could also visit the famous Ben & Jerry's ice cream factory nearby.
