2. Bangkok

   A buzzing metropolis and the gateway to the “land of smiles”.  Begin your Thai adventure in style within the comfort of the legendary Mandarin Oriental on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, one of the best-appointed hotel’s in the city.  In the company of you private English-speaking guide, explore Bangkok’s waterways (klongs) by private long tail boat from the hotel’s pier and wander around the impressive Grand Palace surrounded by golden stupas and guarding the Emerald Buddha.   The city comes alive at night and you will witness this as you speed around by tuk-tuk sampling street food from Chinatown

   

   Activities Include:

   • Private long tail boat ride through the klongs (canals) to see traditional riverside life

   • Evening highlights tour by tuk-tuk to sample street food and see the city by night

3. Chiang Mai

   After two days in the city, take a short flight to Chiang Mai, the largest city in Northern Thailand surrounded by rolling hills dotted with spectacular mountain temples.  Spend four days here with a balance of cultural activities and time to explore independently.  Learn the behaviours of the elephants from their mahouts at a peaceful sanctuary, explore the ancient city walls by segway, learn to drive your own tuk-tuk out on the country roads and dine with a traditional Lanna Thai family in their home as they demonstrate the art of Thai cooking.

   • Travel around the city by segway with a private guide

   • Learn to drive a tuk-tuk on country roads in northern Thailand

   • Join a local family to learn the ways of Lanna Thai cookery

4. Phuket

   From here it is another short flight down to Phuket on the shores of the Andaman Sea and time to relax on the white sand beach of Emerald Bay at Rosewood’s beachfront resort.  Children will love the kids’ club and parents can relax in the Rosewood Spa and if you can tear yourselves away, your guide will take you by tuk-tuk around Phuket’s Old Town on a street food tour.  With Thailand’s highlights under your belt, head on to Australia for the next chapter of your sabbatical.
