Six hectares of organic vineyards, palms and cypress trees surround Château de Valmer, set amid the rolling Provençal hills, with the Mediterranean still in sight. Its location indeed sets this splendid hotel apart, set back from the water but within short walking distance. Inside, heirlooms reflect the three generations of the same family that have owned the property – comfortable, cosy and just the right amount of rustic. A little lace, floral flourishes and off-white accessories characterise its bedrooms, topped by two treehouses for couples or families wishing to really escape.
Its Michelin-starred restaurant hones in on regional flavours and local ingredients (much organically grown in the kitchen garden), while a delightful terrace, private beach and two pools are ever-alluring. Saint-Tropez will just have to wait until tomorrow.
