THE SEASON AHEAD

The Amalfi Coast is currently basking in summer sunshine, looking every bit as glamorous as the Hollywood scenes it has inspired. Deep turquoise water. Colourful cliffside houses glowing in the sunshine. Lemon trees heavy with bright yellow fruit. But for those in the know, autumn is also a wonderful time to visit the Amalfi Coast. The milder temperatures make walking its scenic coastal trails a real pleasure. The most famous is the Path of the Gods, which links Agerola to Positano and delivers spectacular views across the Gulf of Naples. We can also arrange shorter walks if you would prefer a gentler introduction to the coastal trails. Afterwards, you might visit a lemon grove with a private guide and enjoy a limoncello tasting – the ultimate Amalfi refreshment!

Autumn also brings the chance to explore Pompeii and Herculaneum with fewer visitors. It is a lovely time of year to discover glamorous towns such as Positano and Sorrento at a slower pace, or to take the short hop across to Capri. The best times of year to visit the Amalfi Coast are the spring, early summer, and the autumn months of September and October.

By September, temperatures are still pleasantly warm (often around 25C / 77F), but the end of the European school holidays means the crowds are beginning to melt away. And in October you can experience a serene visit with mild days and plenty of time outdoors before the winter sets in.
