THE SEASON AHEAD
The season in Mykonos does not really begin until after Greek Orthodox Easter in late April, but it is worth the wait. I always recommend visiting early or late in the season for the best experience. In May you can enjoy that dream vision of Chora’s picturesque streets against a backdrop of blue skies - but without the jostling crowds. One of my favourite pastimes at this time of year is strolling down to Little Venice in the late afternoon, settling in at a waterfront taverna to watch the sunset.
As May gives way to June, the warmer temperatures make the beaches more difficult to resist. You still won’t have to share them with quite as many people as you would in July and August. I love spending a morning on Ornos beach, beginning with a coffee while I watch the waters sparkling in the sunshine. Once I’m feeling warm and energised, I’ll venture in for a refreshing dip. It sometimes takes me a while to get in, but I always feel so good afterwards!
There is no denying that Mykonos becomes busy as summer progresses, but there is still plenty to be enjoyed. We pride ourselves on finding the villas in the most exclusive locations, so that you can immerse yourself in the island’s beauty without having to share it with anyone else.

WHERE & WHEN
Which areas of Mykonos are best for villa rentals?
We recommend southern and western Mykonos for a luxury villa stay. These parts of the island are offer the most protection from the wind, and different sections of this coastline offer a setting to suit every taste.
Exclusive accommodations in western Mykonos offer easy access to the delights of Mykonos Town, panoramic sea views, and the option to take day trips to Delos island and sunset cruises. The area around Ornos Bay in the southwest is one of our favourite places to stay on the island. It offers a more relaxed atmosphere than some of the more hedonistic spots in Mykonos, as well as a great choice of beaches. Further along the south coast, we also recommend the area around Kalafatis for a calmer setting and quieter beaches. This is also a good place to enjoy swimming, snorkelling, and watersports.
What is the best time of year to rent a villa in Mykonos?
The villa rental season in Mykonos runs from May through to the end of September. Within this period, the best months to visit are May, June, and September.
May brings gradually warming temperatures to Mykonos, particularly later in the month. The island’s restaurants and beach clubs will also be opening in May in preparation for the new season. Temperatures sit around 20-22C (68-71F) in May, but this is one of the best times to experience the island at its quietest while still being able to enjoy mild, sunny weather. By June, temperatures average at a very enjoyable 25C, making the beaches an even more appealing prospect. The increase in visitors is noticeable by now, but still not on a level with the July and August peak.
If you can only visit Mykonos during July and August, you must be prepared to encounter more visitors on the beaches, in Mykonos Town, and in the island’s restaurants and bars. This is therefore a season to spend more time at a private villa, enjoying the island's natural beauty and the glorious weather from a base of serenity and privacy. By September, the crowds are gradually beginning to dissipate, and this is a wonderful time to visit the island. Temperatures are usually in the region of 24C (75F) in September, but the seas are at their warmest for swimming. Outdoor dining is also particularly enjoyable in the late summer sunshine.
