THE SEASON AHEAD
The new season is just around the corner in Menorca, and the arrival of spring is always something I look forward to. The island comes to life with abundant greenery, wild orchids, and bright pink gladioli in bloom. The gentle temperatures of April and May make this a wonderful time to go hiking to appreciate Menorca’s natural beauty. The Camí de Cavalls is a long-established hiking trail that circumnavigates the entire island. Broken down into 20 well-marked stages, you can follow sections that take you along coastal paths, through the S’Albufera des Grau national park, and even past Talayotic prehistoric sites to delightful coves.
As May progresses, you’ll find the temperatures increasingly warm enough to dine mostly outside – and to take full advantage of the private pool at your villa. And by June you really must take the time to revel in Menorca’s beaches before the European school holidays begin. If you are on the island during the second half of June, be sure to visit Ciutadella to observe the Fiestas de Joan. Traditionally adorned horses and riders pass through the city as part of equestrian events taking place on the 23rd and 24th – a truly remarkable spectacle to witness!

WHERE & WHEN
What are the best areas to stay in Menorca for a luxury villa holiday?
One the best areas to stay in Menorca is in and around the south coast. This ensures easy access to some of the island’s best beaches, such as Son Boi and Cala en Porter, as well as the atmospheric capital city of Mahón.
To experience Menorca’s legendary peace and seclusion, rural villas in the centre of the island offer exclusivity and the opportunity to reconnect with nature. Such is the compact nature of the island that you will never be too far away from traditional villages and pristine beaches. Villas near the picturesque town of Alaior offer a ‘best of both worlds’ location; a slice of tranquil Menorcan life with plenty of amenities on the doorstep.
When is the best time to visit Menorca?
Menorca is best visited between April and early October. Within this period, the island has something different to offer in each season.
The spring brings mild temperatures of around 16 – 20C (61 – 68F). The island bursts into colour as spring unfolds. This is a great time of year to go hiking around coastal paths without the full heat of the summer months. As May merges into June, temperatures can hover between 25 and 27C (77 – 80F), with long sunny days. You can dine outdoors in complete comfort and enjoy the island’s fabulous beaches without too many people around.
The irresistible summer weather of July and August brings the most visitors to the island. You can still enjoy complete serenity at this time, by staying in a secluded villa with private pool. Temperatures peak at around 30C (86F) in the height of summer. By September, the island is getting quieter again, but the sea is at its warmest for swimming, and outdoor temperatures remain at around 25C (77F) on average.
Menorca’s whitewashed villages and the captivating main towns of Mahón, Ciutadella, and Alaior can be enjoyed at any time of year. For the quietest experience - combined with the best chance of sunshine - we recommend visiting in spring and autumn.
