Anna Cappell, Red Savannah's Caribbean villa specialist

Though it may seem obvious, whenever I think of The Bahamas I am always drawn back to the stunning beaches. The purity of the water and quality of the light here is unsurpassed anywhere in the Caribbean. I find it a simply astounding place, and somewhere I could never get tired of exploring.

For me, the appeal of the Bahamas is also in its simplicity. The easy-going attitude here, and the appreciation of life’s simple pleasures is really quite difficult to find elsewhere in our busy, modern world. Whether you’re snorkelling in the clear waters, or settling in for one of the weekly pig roasts accompanied by an ice-cold Kalik beer, it is impossible not to feel the pace of life slow down in an utterly addictive way. This makes it very difficult to go back home again at the end of it all.

Harbor Island's Pink Sand Beach in the Bahamas

PINK SAND BEACH

One of the most photographed sites in The Bahamas, Pink Sand Beach on Harbour Island is popular for good reason. The contrast of the soft pink sands against the multi-hued shades of turquoise water is truly a feast for the eyes.

A swimming pig in the Bahamas

EXUMAS ISLAND CRUISE

Some 365 islands make up The Exumas, and many of these are tiny cays. An island-hopping cruise is likely to include a stop at Big Major Cay where you can see the swimming pigs, as well as reef snorkelling, and paradisical deserted sandbars.
