THE SEASON AHEAD

At the moment, the prospect of spending relaxing days outdoors and dining outside in warm sunshine seems so far away. But this is when my thoughts begin to turn to spring and early summer 2025 in Crete. Being one of the warmest of the Greek islands, the delights of Crete can be enjoyed from as early as April each year, and our luxury villas will all be ready to welcome you. At this time, the island comes alive with spring flowers, and the hills and meadows seem greener than at any other time of year.

Picturesque towns such as Chania can also be enjoyed at a leisurely pace before the summer crowds arrive. As May progresses, temperatures start climbing into the mid 20s in Celsus (mid 70s in Fahrenheit), making Crete a wonderful place to cast off the last of the winter chill. June is also a delightful month to visit, with the continuing warmth allowing you to spend even longer on the island’s blissful beaches – but without the peak season crowds. WHERE & WHEN

Where should I stay in Crete?

We recommend two areas of the island in particular for a luxury villa holiday in Crete. Many of our villas can be found around the sought-after area of Elounda in the east, where the pristine beaches and picture-postcard coastal villages still remain untouched by mass tourism. We also love Kolymbari in northwestern Crete, where our hand-picked villas boast fabulous sea views, and easy access to traditional seafront tavernas. This side of the island is also perfect for exploring the 14th century Venetian harbour town of Chania, which is only a 30-minute drive from many of our villas in northwestern Crete.

What is the best time of year to rent a villa in Crete?

Our luxury villas in Crete can be booked right through from April to the end of October. July and August are the most popular months to visit Crete, and temperatures are at their hottest during the summer peak with long, sunny days. If you would like to experience a quieter side of Crete with fewer visitors and less intense heat, we highly recommend visiting in May and June. Similarly, we love visiting Crete in the late summer and early autumn; the months of September and October still bring plenty of sunshine and the warmest seas for swimming, but without the peak season crowds.
