THE SEASON AHEAD

With the winter chill still lingering at home, I already find myself looking forward to the spring season in Corfu. In a place already renowned as one of the greenest of the Greek islands, spring in Corfu has an unmatched glory. By late April and into May, the island bursts into bloom with wild orchids, thyme, oleanders, sea lavender delivering a heady mix of colour and fragrance.

Temperatures are mild in spring, averaging at 20C (68F) in April, and 24C (76F) in May. And, while you may not be spending quite as much time in the water, this is the perfect opportunity to delve deeper into the island’s mountainous interior to go hiking or cycling in fragrant pine forests and take in the breathtaking views. Return to your villa for some well-earned relaxation by the pool, perhaps rounding off the day with a stroll into the village for dinner at an authentic local taverna.

Where should I stay in Corfu?

We always recommend north east Corfu for a luxury villa holiday. The north east is not as busy or developed as other parts of the of the island, meaning it retains an authentic character and charm - as well as a more peaceful feel. Many of our private villa rentals in Corfu are located within easy reach of beautiful villages such as Kassiopi, Agni, and Kalami, whilst others have direct access to the region's famed beaches such as Avlaki beach. When is the best time to visit Corfu?

Villa holidays in Corfu can be enjoyed from April right through to late October. The shoulder seasons of spring (April - June) and autumn (September - October) are perfect if you wish to experience a quieter side of the island with fewer visitors and less intense heat. You may even wish to go hiking in the hills for unforgettable panoramas. Alternatively, the peak season months of July and August bring endless Mediterranean sunshine - perfect for enjoying lazy days on the beach or by your private pool. Temperatures at this time peak at around 32C (90F).
