Which are the best Greek islands for a luxury beach holiday?

For a family friendly beach holiday in Greece we recommend Crete, Paros, or the Peloponnese. They offer some of the easiest access to safe, sandy beaches. Corfu is a wonderful choice for a luxury beach holiday due to its natural beauty, authenticity, and access to pretty towns and village life. Those in search of nightlife and sophisticated resorts should consider Santorini or Mykonos, with the latter also offering a selection of exclusive beach clubs.

  • What is the best way to travel around the Greek islands icon
What is the best way to travel around the Greek islands?

Though it is possible to take public ferries between some Greek islands, we recommend private boat transfers as the best way to travel around on a luxury island-hopping itinerary. It is more comfortable, efficient, and you can even discover smaller islands along the way that receive very few visitors.

Can I combine a cultural tour with a private villa in Greece?

Yes, and this is a wonderful combination. You can spend a few days exploring the historic and cultural wonders of Athens with a private guide. Follow this with a week of relaxation in a Greek island luxury villa and maybe some island hopping. We can bring together all of the elements for you as part of a tailor-made Greece holiday.

Greece is a destination with so many different faces, and this is just one of the reasons I keep returning. For a start, the history lover in me is always drawn back to this great cradle of Western civilisation. The mighty Acropolis of Athens is of course well-known, but you rarely need to look far beyond the surface to find historic treasures almost everywhere you go in Greece. The Minoan palace of Knossos in Crete. Mystras and Monemvasia in the Peloponnese. Santorini’s archaeological sites wedged into volcanic slopes. You will never run out of places to discover!

There is far more to Greece than just history though. I love the huge contrasts to be found as you travel around the Greek islands. I remember one day I ventured inland in Santorini for a coffee stop in a peaceful village, where the only language being spoken was Greek and there was a man working away with his donkey, barely ten miles from some of Greece’s most exclusive luxury resorts further down the coast. The diversity of the islands themselves is also remarkable. Each has its own unique identity, whether that’s in the landscapes, cuisine, artisan traditions, or local legends. The unifying factors are of course the gleam of the white-washed houses in the sunshine, the friendly people, and the endless horizons of turquoise waters. There’s nowhere else in the world quite like it.
