The Rocky Mountaineer takes you on a wonderful journey into the Canadian wilderness. This 12-day itinerary moves east from Vancouver to explore Banff, Yoho and Jasper National Parks, staying overnight in well located hotels. On board, you can expect warm hospitality, comfortable surroundings, and large windows to make the most of awe inspiring scenery as you go.

  2. Day 1 Arrive in Vancouver

    A Red Savannah representative will be waiting at the airport to welcome you and drive you to your hotel. The rest of the day is free of arrangements for you to settle in and relax after your journey.

  3. Day 2 Explore Vancouver

    Today your guide will take you on a tour of the city's spectacular North Shore, which reveals glorious views at every turn. You will also have time to ascend Grouse Mountain by gondola and visit the Peak of Vancouver.

  4. Day 3 Board the Rocky Mountaineer

    You will be collected this morning and driven by coach to board the Rocky Mountaineer. After a warm welcome, the train will make its way towards Kamloops, passing through spectacular scenery including Hell's Gate, Fraser Canyon and the steep slopes than run down to the Thompson River. You will arrive into Kamloops in the afternoon.

  5. Day 4 The Rockies and Alberta

    Today the Rocky Mountaineer will continue eastwards into The Rockies. Of the many sights along the way, highlights include Kicking Horse Canyon, Spiral Tunnels and Craigellachie - the famous spot where the Last Spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway was driven.

  6. Day 5 Explore Banff

    Nestled in the Rockies of Alberta, Banff is the picturesque town that serves as the gateway to Banff National Park. Today your guide will take you to appreciate the beauty of the area on a tour that will include visits to Bow Falls, Lake Minnewanka and Surprise Corner as well as a ride in Banff Gondola and a helicopter flight at Kananaskis. There will be time in the afternoon for you to explore Banff at your leisure.

  7. Day 6 Yoho National Park to Lake Louise

    A half day tour into Yoho National Park will reveal even more beautiful landscapes and allow time to stretch your legs in the fresh air. From there you will travel to Lake Louise and check-in to your hotel before spending the afternoon at leisure.

  8. Day 7 Banff and Jasper National Parks

    The scenic Icefields Parkway - Highway 93 - enables you to explore Banff and Jasper National Parks today with your guide, with highlights including vast lakes, ice fields and waterfalls. At Columbia Icefield, enjoy a ride on an Ice Explorer to Athabasca Glacier, and then arrive in Jasper late this afternoon.

  9. Day 8 Travel to Quesnel

    Head back to the train for the beautiful journey to Quesnel, which will take you through yet more stunning scenery. Look out for the Rocky Mountain Trench, Moose Lake and Fraser River - not to mention the highest peak of the Canadian Rockies, Mount Robson.

    Overnight: Best Western Tower Inn, Quesnel

  10. Day 9 Travel to Whistler

    The journey towards Whistler takes you over Deep Creek Bridge - one of the highest railway bridges in the world. Other highlights include Fraser Canyon and lovely views of the shorelines of Seton and Anderson Lakes, both of which are fed by glaciers. If you are very lucky, you might spot sea eagles, moose or bears from the train.

  11. Day 10 Explore Whistler

    The area around Whistler is known for excellent skiing in winter, and your hotel lies at the foot of Blackcomb Mountain. This morning your guide will take you on a revealing visit to the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre, where you will learn about the cultures and traditions of the indigenous people of this beautiful region. After a tasty barbecue lunch, spend the afternoon exploring Whistler in your own time.

  12. Day 11 Journey back to Vancouver

    Board the Rocky Mountaineer for the journey back to Vancouver - your final day of travelling through the wild and beautiful Canadian landscape. Pass by Cheakamus Canyon, Mount Garibaldi, Howe Sound and the Coast Mountains before arriving in the city where you will be driven to your downtown accommodation.

  13. Day 12 Depart

    After checking-out of your hotel you will be driven to the airport for your flight home.
