Day 1 Arrive in Maun
Arrive in Maun where you will take a 30-minute flight by light aircraft to Xugana Airstrip. You will then take a scene-setting 20-minute boat transfer from the airstrip to Xugana Island Lodge.
Situated on the shimmering Xugana Lagoon, one of the Okavango Delta's most impressive permanent water sites, the lodge is primed for exploring this private concession within the delta. Spend your first day settling in by enjoying the vistas across the lagoon from the swimming pool, bar, or from a daybed under the shade of a tall mahogany. This evening, enjoy the camp's delicious cuisine, which is served family-style in a wonderfully relaxed setting.

Day 2 - 3 Okavango Delta safari adventures
Spend the next two days on safari adventures from Xugana Island Lodge. With its prime location on the lagoon, water-based adventures here are some of the best in the Okavango Delta. Start the day with a motorboat cruise along the winding waterways and glimpse elephant and hippo bathing in the morning sun. Alternatively, slow the pace by swapping your motorboat for a mokoro. This traditional dugout canoe is ideal for getting even closer to the water as you drift through floodplains dotted with colourful water lilies and swaying reeds. This is an excellent way of spotting smaller animals such as frogs and birdlife. The floodwaters are also teeming with bream, catfish and tigerfish, making them fruitful grounds for catch-and-release fishing.
Back on land, embark on adventurous bush walks with your guide, tracking smaller animals and looking out for prints of larger game. You'll also get to watch herds of antelope gambol across the floodplains and buffalo wading through the floodwaters. On occasion, the lagoon attracts prides of lion that perch on the water's edge to drink.
Perhaps the best way to view the delta, however, is by helicopter - which we can arrange at an additional cost. With the doors off, you'll be able to marvel at the sweeping vistas, seeing how the glimmering waterways feed the lagoon.

Day 4 To the Moremi Game Reserve
Today you will take the 15-minute light aircraft flight to the Moremi Game Reserve. Covering almost a third of the delta, the reserve is vast and home to a diverse array of landscapes - from endless grassy plains where wild dog roam, to the Khwai River where towering evergreen flank the edge of the waters.
Spend your day settling into Camp Moremi, a 12-tent camp with arresting views across the reserve. A drink at the bar is an immersive experience in itself, having been built around a majestic ebony tree, while the spacious lounge with brass finishes evokes the golden age of safari. You may wish to see out the evening in the boma, listening to the calming sounds of the reserve around a warming fire.

Day 5 - 6 Moremi Game Reserve safari
The Moremi Game Reserve beckons as you spend two full days discovering all it has to offer. Morning game drives allow you to skirt the edges of the Xakanaxa Lagoon, keeping an eye out for impala, kudu and waterbuck gathering to drink. The reserve also offers fantastic chances to spot big cats, with lion peering through the tall grass and leopard sprawled across the branches of Mopane trees. You'll also get more opportunities to see hippo and elephant as you zip across the waterways on a motorised boat safari.
Birdwatchers will be able to revel in the reserve's array of colourful birds. Prize spots include the African fish eagle and striking malachite kingfisher, while those lucky enough may even glimpse the elusive Pel's fishing owl as it darts from the skies.

Day 7 To the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park
Today you'll take another scenic flight to the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, as you swap the glistening delta for the enchanting desert. This contrasting landscape is renowned for its annual zebra migration and great herds of wildebeest.
Perched on the western bank of the Boteti River, Leroo La Tau is your base for the next two nights. This intimate luxury camp features just 12 glass-fronted suites and places you in the heart of the action at Makgadikgadi. The swimming pool with views over the river is the ideal place to unwind, while the lounge and thatched dining area are the lively and welcoming hubs of camp life.

Day 8 Activities from Leroo La Tau
A typical day at Leroo La Tau usually begins with an enthralling game drive along the banks of the river and across the sprawling white sands, which are home to a range of magnificent creatures including lion, zebra, and wildebeest. The Makgadikgadi Pans National Park is also a great place to see some of Botswana's lesser-spotted animals, like brown and spotted hyena, porcupine, and genet.
For those looking for a cultural insight as part of their safari, there is chance to learn more about the way of life in the national park with a visit to Khumaga Village.
