Day 2 Nyungwe Forest National Park
Following an early breakfast, embark on a thrilling forest walk with a professional guide in search of chimpanzees. The Rwandan chimpanzee population in Nyungwe Forest National Park is the core wildlife attraction. You may hear the hoots of these excitable primates before you see them as they move around constantly. Once your guide locates a chimpanzee community, enjoy spending up to an hour with them observing them as they play, forage and relax. During your walk, you may also spot migratory birdlife including the Ross' turaco, grey-cheeked hornbill, red-breasted sparrowhawk and regal sunbird. Day 5 Kigali
Early morning, meet your ranger and head into the mountains to track golden monkeys. This endangered species can only be found in this enclave of East Africa, where Rwanda meets Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Beautiful to watch and delightfully playful, they leap high in the tree canopy in the lower reaches of the mountains. Walking here is less demanding than to see gorillas, though porters are also available. During the afternoon, continue south past scenic coffee, tea and banana plantations to Kigali, a city rich with culture and art. You are free to explore the city and dine at a location of your choice.
