Set high on Ruaha’s Ikuka escarpment, Ikuka Safari Lodge looks out across sweeping plains where elephants, giraffes and kudu move between the baobabs. The camp’s seven tented suites are crafted from pale stone and canvas, open to the landscape yet carefully designed for comfort, each with private decks positioned for sunrise or sunset. Being owner-run, loving attention to detail is evident throughout the camp, where a relaxed, home-from-home feel prevails.
The central lodge, set among boulders and acacia trees, is an airy space for long meals, quiet reading or simply watching raptors circle on the thermals. An infinity pool appears to spill into the wilderness below, offering a striking vantage point after morning drives. Wildlife here is prolific. Ruaha holds some of the largest lion prides in East Africa, alongside leopard, wild dog and over 500 bird species. Days follow a gentle rhythm of guided drives and walking safaris, returning to camp for shaded afternoons and evenings lit by lanterns and stars.
