On arrival in Dar Es Salaam, transfer to the domestic terminal before flying to Ras Kutani, a short ten minute flight. From here you will be met and driven to Ras Kutani. Situated only 35 kilometres south of the port of Dar Es Salaam, Ras Kutani is a haven for peace and tranquillity, a place where guests can completely relax and unwind, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The accommodation consists of nine spacious cottages, each constructed from local materials, featuring its own en-suite bathroom and large veranda with breath-taking views of the crystal clear Indian Ocean. Alternative accommodation consists of four suites and one family unit, perched on top of a hill, each offering spectacular views.
Overnight: Ras Kutani
Spend the next two days enjoying the activities on offer from Ras Kutani whether it be snorkelling, swimming, kayaking & boogie boarding or simply relaxing and soaking up the rays on the pristine, deserted, white sandy beach. Depending on the season, turtles still come to nest along the shore at Ras Kutani, with the opportunity for guests to become involved in a number of projects that continue to look out for their welfare. Alternatively you may wish to explore the coastal forest behind the lodge, home to a staggering 132 different species of trees and a chance to spot four different types of monkey including the spectacular black-and-white Colobus.
Overnight: Ras Kutani
Today you will be transferred to Ras Kutani airstrip before flying to the Selous Game Reserve. On arrival you will be met and driven to Siwandu Camp. Siwandu as a whole consists of two separate tented camps, one with six tents and the other with seven. Each camp comes equipped with its own host, game viewing vehicles, jetty for boat safaris and walking guides. All tents in both camps are widely spaced to ensure maximum privacy with each featuring an en-suite bathroom, open air hot water shower, king-sized bed and ceiling fan for the warmer evenings. The two mess tents (one for each camp) feature their own kitchen, swimming pool, well stocked bar and dining area, creating a warm and intimate atmosphere.
Spend the next two days at leisure exploring the Selous. Activities include 4 x 4 game drives, bush walks and boat excursions. Home to over 350 species of birds, 2,100 species of plant, 108,000 buffalo, 60,000 elephant and approximately 1,300 of the world's 4,000 remaining wild dogs, the game viewing is phenomenal.
Today you will be flown from the Selous to Ruaha. On arrival you will be met and transferred to Jongomero. Located right in the heart of Ruaha, Jongomero consists of eight large tented suites, each built under enormous thatched roofs, on raised wooden platforms overlooking the seasonal Sand River. All tents have their own spacious and private veranda and the dining and living areas are all exceptionally comfortable. The best thing about this camp is that it is the only camp in this area of the park ensuring that guests can enjoy their safari in complete privacy without another vehicle or person in sight.
The next two days will be spent at leisure soaking up the sights and smells of the bush. 4 x 4 game drives and bush walks are on the agenda but for the full raw African experience we would recommend the one to two day walking safari, a chance to immerse yourself in the African wilderness whilst spending a night or two under the stars in one of the fly camps.
After breakfast you will be driven to Ruaha airstrip where you will be flown to Dar Es Salaam in time to catch your onward international flight home.
