Given its setting on the banks of the Zambezi River on the edge of Zimbabwe's Mana Pools National Park, water plays a significant role at Ruckomechi. Guests spend plenty of time afloat, enjoying river cruises to spot wallowing hippo and hundreds of species of exotic birds, or travelling by canoe for water-level views of the landscape and the creatures found here. The bountiful waters are also a fisherman's paradise, with catch-and-release fishing trips allowing guests to hook a sought after tiger fish. In addition to the aquatic adventures, a stay at Ruckomechi comes with plenty of things to see and do on land.
Game drives during the day and at night reveal the diversity of the ecosystem, while nature walks bring guests close to the natural world and its inhabitants. Each of Ruckomechi's ten tents comes with views of the river, and the Zambian shores of Lower Zambezi National Park on the far bank. Shaded beneath the branches of native ana trees, vast rooms sit on raised wooden platforms and are equipped with everything required for a comfortable stay in Africa's remote wilds. King-size beds hung with billowing mosquito nets sit alongside rustic furniture made from local wood, and stylish bathrooms feature porcelain twin vanities and rainforest showers. At the heart of the camp, there is a welcoming communal area where guests convene with sundowners and after-dinner drinks around the firepit under starlit skies. You may even encounter elephants vsiting the camp.
