Days 1-4 Four days at leisure at El Questro Homestead
Fly to Kununurra and transfer into El Questro Wilderness Park, arriving at the adults-only Homestead above the Chamberlain River. A four-night stay here allows for rest and exploration at your own pace, perhaps cruising through Chamberlain Gorge one day and setting out on foot through sandstone country the next.
Take advantage of the Homestead’s exclusive afternoon access to Zebedee Thermal Springs, sinking into naturally warm pools shaded by palms, and spend an evening at Buddy’s Point as the colours deepen across the ranges. Injiid Marlabu Calls Us, led by Ngarinyin Traditional Owners, deepens the connection to Country through storytelling. For a different perspective, take a helicopter flight over El Questro’s canyons and waterfalls to marvel at the scale of the landscape.
Intimate suites and daily-changing menus paired with Australian wines make evenings every bit as appealing as the hours spent outdoors.

Day 5 Kununurra & Board True North
Depart El Questro after breakfast and transfer privately to Kununurra, where True North’s coach takes you to the vessel. Dinner is served onboard as the ship begins its overnight cruise towards the King George River. At first light, the inland ranges give way to the steep-sided gorges of the Kimberley coast.

Day 6 The King George River
At high tide, True North ventures deep into the King George River, moving between sheer sandstone walls towards its twin waterfalls. At King George Falls, the vessel edges close enough to feel the cooling spray from the bow, an exhilarating introduction to the Kimberley coast. A helicopter flight showcases the falls and plateaus from above.

Day 7 Vansittart Bay & Eagle Falls
Today the voyage reaches Vansittart Bay, opening a window onto the Kimberley’s Aboriginal heritage through ancient Gwion Gwion rock art. Mackerel fishing and tender trips to quiet beaches and creeks are also on the agenda here, or you can take a helicopter flight inland to Eagle Falls for a picnic surrounded by rocky escarpments and a rushing cascade.

Day 8 The Hunter River
Deeper into the Kimberley, the Hunter River winds between mangroves, rainforest and ochre cliffs, making this excellent territory for birdwatching, mud-crabbing and tender exploration. Set out on foot for Jackson Falls or take to the air for a bird’s-eye view of the intricate river system. Towards dusk, True North reaches Prince Frederick Harbour, and sunset drinks on Crystal Beach round out the day.

Day 9 Prince Regent River & King Cascade
The next leg of the cruise enters the Prince Regent River, known for mangrove jack and fingermark bream. True North makes its way to King Cascade, drawing close to the rock face as water spills over tiers of greenery and sandstone. From here, follow a bush trail to a freshwater billabong for a swim or venture further upriver to Amphitheatre Waterfall.

Day 10 Montgomery Reef
Early risers can fish for barramundi at Three Ways or walk to Ruby Falls for a dip in its natural pool. A heli-fishing flight reaches more secluded spots, followed by the remarkable tidal theatre of Montgomery Reef. As the tide ebbs, an immense coral platform appears to rise from the ocean, sending streams through newly exposed channels. Navigate the reef by tender, watching for turtles, dugongs and crocodiles across the shallows.

Day 11 Yampi Sound & Talbot Bay
After another overnight passage, True North arrives in Yampi Sound, putting the Kimberley’s rich fishing grounds centre stage. Smaller boats work the sheltered creeks and tidal edges in search of barramundi, jacks, fingermark and threadfin. In the evening, True North turns west for the overnight cruise to the Rowley Shoals, trading sandstone country for open ocean and coral atolls.

Days 12-13 Clerke Reef
Clerke Reef’s dazzling lagoon comes into view this morning, framed by an extensive outer reef. Snorkellers and divers can range across coral gardens alive with tropical fish, anglers can fish on a catch-and-release basis inside the lagoon, and Bedwell Island beckons for a walk across its white sand. Come dusk, drinks ashore lead into an island party beneath the starry sky.
Day two at Clerke Reef turns to the Aquarium, whose waist-deep shallows reveal giant clams, vivid corals and clouds of tropical fish at close quarters. Out on the reef edge, a drift snorkel lets the current do the work as you glide past colourful coral formations under the guidance of True North’s crew.

Day 14 The Outer Reef
On the final full day at the Rowley Shoals, attention turns to the outer reef, where steep drop-offs and coral walls set the scene for more snorkelling and marine exploration. At sunset, True North turns towards Broome and the Captain’s Party marks the close of the voyage.

Days 15-18 Four days of free time at Cable Beach Club
Arrive in Broome and transfer to Cable Beach Club, settling into an adults-only villa tucked into tropical gardens. A private plunge pool, courtyard and dedicated host create a peaceful base for the next few days, and the broad sweep of Cable Beach lies just beyond the resort.
When you’re not unwinding in the sanctuary of your villa, visit Willie Creek Pearl Farm to see how Australian South Sea pearls are cultivated or explore Gantheaume Point when tides allow access to its dinosaur footprints. Chahoya Spa’s restorative treatments offer an appealing alternative. Save at least one evening simply for the Indian Ocean sunset.
