  3. Day 2 Waiheke Island

After a refreshing nights' sleep, a guide will meet and transfer you to the aerodrome in downtown Auckland where you will join the crew of the 8-seater De Havilland Beaver Floatplane to fly across to Waiheke Island for two-nights. The Boatshed's casual and elegant atmosphere works in perfect harmony with the seaside location, and all the luxury designer suites have panoramic ocean views. Make the most of the hotel's beautiful design, architecture, cuisine and views whilst enjoying the wonderful bay and ocean air: stroll on the beach; read a book in the sun; and enjoy fabulous food and fine wines.

    Overnight: The Boatshed

  4. Day 3 At Leisure

Enjoy a full day at leisure; we recommend exploring the wonderful vineyards and wineries. Since the late 1970s Waiheke's benign Mediterranean climate has seen the growth of a flourishing wine industry. A "small is beautiful" philosophy yields low quantities of high quality fruit, cultivated to produce international award-winning wines. The big Bordeaux-style reds of Stonyridge are now appreciated by wine lovers all over the world, and more than 30 vineyards have followed in these footsteps. You can visit Stonyridge and others of your choice including Kennedy Point Vineyard, Mudbrick Vineyard and Te Whau Vineyard where you can have a delicious lunch and sample some of the owner's 500+ classic and local vintages.

    Overnight: The Boatshed

  5. Day 4 The Bay of Islands

After two wonderfully relaxing days, fly back to the mainland, where you will be met on arrival and transferred to Flagstaff Lodge, your home for three nights. Perfectly positioned in the Bay of Islands' charming village of Russell, this delightful four-bedroom property has been designed and furnished with care and exceptional attention to detail. Within only a two minute walk, you'll find charming shops, cafes and restaurants just a stones' throw from the seafront.

Overnight: Flagstaff Lodge, Bay of Islands

  6. Day 5 - 6 At Leisure

Enjoy two full days exploring this spectacular region, whether simply relaxing at Flagstaff or heading out for wonderful, peaceful walks; there are plenty of well-maintained tracks with breath-taking views. We also highly recommend exploring the stunning coastline, which has no fewer than 144 islands, by private boat; or alternatively you might prefer to join a cruise late afternoon with a glass of wine and watch the sun go down.

Overnight: Flagstaff Lodge, Bay of Islands

  7. Day 7 Taupo

Leaving the Bay of Islands behind, you will be transferred to Kerikeri Airport for your flight to Taupo. On arrival, pick up a rental vehicle and drive to your accommodation, which will take around 20 minutes. You will have two nights at Acacia Cliffs, which perches high on a ridge offering an uninterrupted panorama of Lake Taupo, Mount Tauhara and the Kaimanawa Ranges - and has been designed to make the most of it.

    Overnight: Acacia Cliffs

  8. Day 8 Tarawera Falls

After an early breakfast, you will be accompanied by a guide for a full day hiking to Tarawera Falls. You will enjoy a light morning tea overlooking the lake before following the track inland, along the pristine waters of the Tarawera River. After hiking for around two hours through stunning volcanic landscapes and native bush, and traversing over underground streams, you'll arrive for a delicious picnic lunch. After lunch, your next stop of the day is Te-Puia, a place of gushing waters, steaming vents and bubbling mud pools. Enjoy a private guided tour of this spectacular thermal valley and time exploring Rotorua with your guide before being driven back to the lodge (around 90 minutes).

    Overnight: Acacia Cliffs

  9. Day 9 Hastings

Following check-out from Acacia Cliffs, drive to Hastings - a journey which should take no longer than two and a half hours. On arrival, settle into your stunning private villa, set on 20 hectares of vineyard with spectacular views. This is the perfect base-camp for wine country and Napier - the well-known Art Deco city - with its modern art and crafts. Enjoy quality time at Millar Road - tranquillity and peace, beautiful views and a refreshing pool to relax in.

    Overnight: Millar Road

  10. Day 10 - 11 At Leisure

Enjoy two full days at leisure. If you're interested in food and wine, then you are most definitely in the right place. Within a 20-minute drive there are restaurants, farmers markets and wineries. Should you decide to dine in the privacy of your villa, there are many local food producers who would be delighted to offer menu suggestions and deliver fresh produce to your door; or, if you'd like someone else to take the reins, Millar Road will arrange for a private chef to put a menu together for you. Out and about, there is an abundance of fabulous golf courses, wine tours and walking trails to keep you active. An early morning balloon flight would be the perfect way to see this stunning region.

    Overnight: Millar Road

  11. Day 12 Wellington

Enjoy a final day out on the open road before you drop your vehicle off in the 'Windy City', Wellington, the country's capital. Your journey time will be around four hours allowing for a break for a bite to eat. We recommend Greytown, a pleasant place with charming cafe's, bistros and shops to stroll around. On arrival, check-in to your contemporary accommodation, before heading out to make the most of Wellington's fantastic restaurant scene. We love Logan Brown for delicious food and unfaltering service.
