Sifnos in the Greek Cyclades is one of the lesser-known, and as a result, most authentic and unspoilt of islands of the archipelago. The three villages of the island link together like a white-petal garland. In spring the villages reawaken, as residents return from Athens to re-inhabit the island for the seasonal months. A ferry-trip from Piraeus port in Athens, the island has long been the island of choice for well-heeled Athenians, leaving their mark with beautiful manor houses in some of the most spectacular locations across the island.
