Occupying a prime position in the centre of Cortina d’Ampezzo, Hotel de Len offers the best of both worlds; immediate access to the town’s boutiques, bars and restaurants, within a short distance from the lifts that lead to the Dolomiti Superski area. Made famous during the 1956 Winter Olympics and drawing the A-Listers ever since, Cortina really is the place to experience European skiing glamour at its very best.
Hotel de Len leans into the glamour of its surroundings, but in a beautifully understated way. Opened in 2022 after a complete reimagining of a former grand hotel, the feel here is one of a boutique, urban chalet, with all the polished service of a luxury hotel. The name “de Len” (meaning “of wood” in the local Ladin language) underlines the hotel’s architectural identity, with interiors dominated by reclaimed fir, Swiss pine, and soft timber. Sculpted light and natural textures combine with the sustainably sourced woods to make the hotel’s 22 rooms and suites a soothing haven after a day in the invigorating mountain air. Equally soothing is the hotel’s top-floor spa, a space that once again eschews ostentation in favour of a pared back, environmentally conscious approach. Clever design maximises this compact wellness space to capitalise on the sweeping views of the Cortina d’Ampezzo valley, which are ever-present when you unwind in the sauna, whirlpool bath, or in the relaxation lounge following a restorative massage.
