The arrival of the Aqua Mare to Galapagos waters has been a highly anticipated one. With a 15-year pedigree in delivering luxurious and sustainable small-ship cruising in some of the world’s most spectacular wildlife havens, a return to Ecuador brings owner Francesco Galli Zugaro full circle, to where he first cut his teeth in expedition cruising. His vision for the Aqua Mare has been to offer the first true superyacht experience in the Galapagos, and this has certainly been achieved.
Constructed by the Italian superyacht group CRN, the Aqua Mare brings new levels of space and sophistication the Galapagos archipelago; she boasts 30% more indoor space than many yachts this size, as well as the largest Owner’s Suite in the Galapagos. Stabilisers have been fitted to ensure a smooth ride as the yacht’s gleaming, charcoal grey hull plies Galapagos waters on a rotation of two 7-night itineraries. Days spent exploring the islands on foot, by Zodiac, underwater with snorkelling or overwater on kayaks and paddle boards are complemented by leisurely recovery periods out on deck, enjoying the sun terrace, ample lounge areas and inviting Jacuzzi.
A supremely comfortable ‘beach club’ with swimming platform facilitates marine adventures and Zodiac excursions, and guests can enjoy consulting chef Pedro Miguel Schiaffino’s menu of fine Nikkei fusion cuisine in a variety of settings, from the panoramic indoor dining room and lounge, the top deck dining area boasting 360-degree views, or the sheltered aft dining area with barbecue. As another day draws to a close, retire to one of Aqua Mare’s seven supremely comfortable suites; with capacity for just 16 guests, the experience on board is always an intimate one, and the guest to crew ratio of 1:1 delivers service levels that are second-to-none.
