This modern and sophisticated wine estate takes the wine country experience in California to a whole new level. Stylish and innovative design that draws upon the colours and materials of the surrounding natural landscapes create the perfect balance between old and new, with floor-to-ceiling windows and expansive terraces looking out to protected acres of ancient oaks and rolling vines. And, while wine tasting is an obvious draw for visits to the region, the Montage Healdsburg encourages guests to delve deeper into their remarkable Sonoma surroundings, with a wealth of activities on offer such as hiking and biking through extensive trails and kayaking in the Russian river.
130 guest rooms and suites, set in a collection of standalone and two-unit low rise villas, are scattered across a 250-acre estate of vineyards, oak and eucalyptus groves. Interiors – as with the rest of the estate – balance sleek modern design and clean lines with a celebration of Healdsburg’s pristine natural surroundings.
The emphasis on local continues through to the Hazel Hill restaurant, where the vast majority of delicious produce and fine wines are sourced from the immediate surroundings. Even the coffee is sourced from a lcoal Sonoma provider, as are the fresh juices, honey and chocolate on offer in the onsite Country Store.
In keeping with its California setting, much attention has also been paid to the spa and wellness offering at the Montage Healdsburg. The spa itself looks out over the vineyards and boasts a state-of-the-art fitness centre and 11 individual treatment rooms offering a range of nature-inspired therapies. Further moments of calm can be found in the yoga garden, surrounded by vineyards, and in the exquisite adults-only infinity pool.
