Quilalea is a small island of just 84 acres, dominated by indigenous coastal vegetation and the occasional ancient baobab. There are four sandy beaches, and the water just offshore is a designated marine sanctuary thanks to an abundance of colourful sea life; consequently diving and snorkelling on the 'house reef' or slightly further afield is extremely rewarding. As Quilalea is completely uninhabited, it is shared only by up to 18 guests and the gracious staff that tend to your every desire. Built of local stone, hardwood and authentic 'makuti' or coconut palm thatch, the resort buildings blend seamlessly with the natural beauty of the island.
Nine villas are located along the shore of the beaches and are tastefully decorated with light, bright colours including the hues of the tropics - coral, lime and cobalt. There are no phones, TVs or iPod docks; life here is about relaxing in the shade on your veranda and listening to the sound of the lapping Indian Ocean. The villas are in two categories - Kaskazi (Sunrise) and Kusi (Sunset) - positioned respectively for the two times of day. The exclusive Villa Quilalea is the island's most luxurious hideout, with a large deck with private infinity pool and a ladder that leads directly into the sea - in addition to large living spaces.
Families are very welcome, and Azura Quililea offers a special family package meaning that two children can stay free when sharing a Kaskazi villa with parents. There are lots of activities on offer to suit self-sufficient families looking to relax or explore the island together - from snorkelling and shell collecting to dhow sailing excursions and guided tours of historic Ibo Island.

Honeymooners are treated to a warm welcome and little extras such as sparkling wine and in-villa spa treatments.
