The majestic Falls, locally known as Mosi-oa-Tunya ("the smoke that thunders"), is a magnet for visitors from around the world. With possibly one of the most spectacular settings in the country, Gorges Lodge is located downstream from Victoria Falls, perched on the edge of Batoka Gorge above the Zambezi River. Nothing can prepare you for the breathtaking expanse of the gorge that overwhelms you when you step out onto the Bar Deck for the first time.

A special transfer will take you to Bomani Tented Camp today partly by road and partly by rail. The Elephant Express is a unique rail car which will make you feel like you are travelling back in time. Enjoy cold drinks and snacks on your trip through Hwange National Park, gently rattling along in style with the wildlife and vast wilderness around you. Bomani is a charming camp with that indefinable "something". Situated in a private concession in an exclusive area of south east Hwange National Park it overlooks Bomani Pan which lies on the Ngamo Plains. This is a vast and incredibly beautiful area dotted with pans, ponds, wetlands, palm savannah and grasslands, supporting an abundance of wildlife.

Activities at Bomani include game drives on the concession and into Hwange National Park. Night drives and walks are conducted within the camp's private concession. An interesting full day activity is the "pump" run which takes place during the dry season (May to November). Guest can participate in the delivery of diesel, spare parts and provisions to the pump attendants who look after the waterholes maintained by Bomani along the southern side of the park. Upliftment of the local community has always played a very important role in the life of Bomani. Guests are encouraged to visit neighbouring villages where they will gain an insight into Ndebele people's lives.

Today you will be transferred to Jozibanini. In a wilderness in the remote south west of Hwange National Park lies Jozibanini Camp. For unique wilderness experiences, this small, rustic adventure fly camp is the perfect spot. You will find ancient windblown fossil sand dunes which are separated by shallow valleys where elephant paths have firmed the terrain, providing a unique experience of game viewing by mountain bike.

Today, you will be transferred to Zambezi Sands River Camp which offers a wealth of picturesque game viewing opportunities. Situated on the Upper Zambezi, the luxurious lodge sits unobtrusively on the banks of the Zambezi with four of the tents overlooking the rapids towards Zambia and the other four nestling quietly on a small tributary that oozes charm and tranquility. With your experienced guides you can explore the Zambezi River by inflatable canoe or motorised boat. Relax in your private deck splash pool whilst overlooking the Zambezi. Elephant, hippo, waterbuck and bushbuck frequent the reed banks and islands and the birdlife is prolific - African finfoot, African skimmer, pratincoles and Pel's fishing owl all occur here.
