Shreya's may best be described as a very upscale ashram, an oasis of peace and tranquillity where all tensions are gently rubbed away. A deserving member of Relais & Chateaux, this boutique retreat has just eight rooms and sits, with its own farm, in the leafy suburbs of Bangalore.
The purpose here is to re-connect with yourself in calm surroundings, enjoying twice-daily yoga and meditation with additional massages should you so desire. Take a walk around the vegetable gardens or jog around the running track if you're feeling energetic. In order to really access their inner calm (or inner demons) some guests choose to take a vow of silence for a few days. Once you are there, the idea really is quite seductive.
Shreya's will add a new wellness centre with ten treatment rooms in late 2016 and will then offer a broader range of Ayurvedic treatments including Panchakarma. An outdoor heated pool is perfect for a few laps or simply lounging in the sun. There is also a library replete with books in several languages.
Five tented rooms are attractively designed and very secluded with all modern conveniences and pretty indoor/outdoor bathrooms. The three pool rooms open onto the long swimming pool and with easy access to the dining room and library.
Meals are a communal affair with exquisite service. A delicious, set three-course vegetarian menu is served every lunchtime and evening in the dining room with additional portions freely available. Most of the produce is grown on Shreya's own farm and this really shows through in the flavours the chefs produce from relatively simple ingredients.
The idea for Red Savannah was always based on a clear market need. A small team of the most experienced travel designers, supported by the latest technology and delivered with the lightest touch. In short, a travel company redefined for the 21st century.
