Our villas in the Val d’Orcia celebrate the region’s natural beauty, with views extending over rolling plains dotted with ancient abbeys and fortified villages. Etruscans established fine thermal baths here and pilgrims later arrived, following the Via Francigena from Canterbury to Rome. Today, the region is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, noted for its beautiful switchback lanes, world class vineyards and thermal springs.
Nature dealt the Val d’Orcia a particularly generous hand ensuring the gastronome’s delight. Truffles, chestnuts, mushrooms and grapevines grow in abundance and locally-reared sheep produce the pecorino cheese for which the region is renowned.
Our Val d’Orcia villas sit within this most fortuitous of landscapes; some – such as Villa dell’Angelo are nestled within working wine estates. All have private pools from which to enjoy the views and strategically positioned dining terraces - just the spot for long lazy lunches, fuelled by the fine Brunello wines which hail from the vineyards surrounding the pretty village of nearby Montalcino.
