Surrounded by water yet only 30 minutes from the romance of Venice is this exquisite private island, originally settled in the 5th century as part of a group of garden islands known as Ammiana. Churches, monasteries, and convents were built and thrived on the islands before falling into abandonment. Today, Santa Cristina is the only island of this original archipelago to survive. The island is almost fully self-sustainable with its own fresh water source, organic fish, and produce farming. This natural oasis nestled between the Adriatic Sea to the east, the Dolomites peaks to the northwest, and the cosmopolitan city of Venice to the south is more than just an island retreat: it is a place to gather with friends or family in an exclusive setting and to connect with an unspoiled natural environment home to families of wild peacocks and a vast range of wildlife.
